When the Baltimore Ravens personally selected Jordan Lawson to showcase his artistry, he delivered a must-see mural for Ravens fans and art lovers alike. "Towson Flock," an ode to Maryland's beloved Baltimore Ravens and the town of Towson, debuted as the first mural in the Ravens’ “Paint The State Purple” initiative. The mural garnered coverage from The Baltimore Sun, ABC News, and WBAL-TV and now graces the northern wall of the Dulaney Plaza shopping center (head around the corner of The Fresh Market, across from the Towson Town Center).
This mural holds special meaning for artist Jordan Lawson, a self-proclaimed lifelong Ravens fan with close ties to the Towson community. The painting depicts a young Ravens fan floating into town, suspended by deep purple and gold balloons that spell out "R-A-V-E-N-S." Lawson also included Towson landmarks like Unitas Stadium and Rec Room, which evoke fond memories of his time as a student at Towson University.
This piece is more than a nod to local pride, it’s an invitation to be part of the story.
“One thing I think is cool about this piece is that it has an interactive concept,” says Lawson.
Instagram photo tip: Position yourself in front of the mural and create the illusion that you’re holding the Raven's balloons. Ask a friend to take a few steps back and snap your photo to really get the full effect! This playful dimension makes the piece not only visually striking but also an engaging experience.
For Lawson, the opportunity to combine his love of art and his hometown team was a career highlight. His work captures the joy and excitement of being part of the Ravens' flock while celebrating the spirit of Towson.
Jordan Lawson, a multi-disciplinary artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Towson University, explores contemporary pop-culture themes and has shown work in more than 35 exhibits. His unique perspective and passion for his craft shine through in "Towson Flock," making it a must-visit destination for art and football fans alike.
