Have you ever imagined standing at the center of a larger-than-life bouquet? Now’s your chance!
"Summer Bouquet," Megan Lingerfelt's first mural in Maryland, is a photo-worthy masterpiece located at Dulaney Plaza, just behind Chico’s clothing store. The vibrant piece features the artist's favorite flower, the purple shamrock, alongside Maryland's state flower, the black-eyed Susan. The shamrocks, with their deep violet and fuchsia tones, create a moody and enchanting vibe, while the towering black-eyed Susans burst with golden petals, radiating triumph.
"Combining the bright yellows and deep purples for this palette," Lingerfelt shares, "plays with a contrasting color palette method that I use in much of my work."
The choice to highlight flowers in this mural was intentional. Florals frequently appear in the artist's work, which she sees as "symbols of optimism, growth, and individual beauty."
The mural's creation was shaped by the sweltering heat of a July heatwave. To beat the rising temperatures, Megan and her mom, who assisted with the project, began painting each morning at 2 a.m., working under the pre-dawn sky. She describes painting in the stillness of night while the city slept as a “memorable experience.”
Megan Lingerfelt, who honed her artistic craft in North Carolina and Seattle before settling in Tennessee, creates work inspired by her surroundings and the repetition of botanical elements. "Summer Bouquet" is a beautiful reflection of her talent and artistic vision, now a part of the Dulaney Plaza experience.
